We’re focusing on one complaint because decades of singing and teaching have shown me that focusing on one problem builds the skills and momentum that make solving the other problems easier. We make faster, more durable progress this way.
In just nine weeks you will make fundamental improvements in how you use your body, and it will change the way you sing. How amazing would it be to sound and feel better before this Thanksgiving? That really is possible!
There will be plenty of opportunities in class to experiment, ask questions and receive constructive feedback. Even though your classmates may have different vocal complaints, the technique and exercises I teach are grounded in how the human body actually works, and apply to more than just one problem.
Working in a group speeds up your progress because humans learn to make sound by mimicking other people. When we were children, we imitated the sounds of our caregivers and other community members – that’s how we acquired language and a regional accent.
As singers, we’re often consciously, or unconsciously, imitating the sounds of other singers to figure out new ways of doing things. In a group class, you not only have my voice and body to imitate, you have your classmates voices and bodies, too.
The classes will be recorded so you can immerse yourself in the live teaching without worrying that you’re going to forget something. The replays will be there to remind and support you as you practice during the week.
You don’t need any special equipment – the microphone in your phone or laptop is more than good enough.
Registration closes Monday, September 22nd at 9 p.m. Pacific Time.

I can’t wait to help you sound and feel better!
Because the voice is a collection of muscles, and muscles change as they’re used. How we sound has everything to do with how we’re using our body, and we have a lot of control over that. You might not know how to do things differently yet (that’s where I come in), but the skills you need are all learnable. Sounding and feeling better is within your reach.
You’re not too old.
It’s not too late.
You’re not too stuck.
We’re going to start with the basic anatomy and physics of the voice – what the parts are, how they interconnect, and how all that relates to the problem you’re solving.
We’ll explore exercises to strengthen the areas of your instrument that need strengthening, and relax and release the areas of your instrument that need releasing. You’ll be able to confidently warm your voice up and cool your voice down whenever you need.
We’ll apply all this healthy vocal technique to songs. I’ll bring some, and you can bring whatever you’re working on. You’ll learn to troubleshoot and improve the parts of the song that disappoint you, rather than giving up on the song, or yourself.

Are you one of those folks who says,
“I’m afraid that I can’t sing in tune.”
“My family tells me, please don’t sing!”
“I don’t want anyone to hear me – I think I sound terrible!”
In 60 minutes I’ll explain how the voice works and the #1 mental shift that makes singing infinitely easier.
You’ll learn what’s been holding you back all these years, which is the first step toward opening to a fuller, easier, more tuneful, more resonant voice.
Because if you can hear the difference between a statement and a question, I believe you can learn to sing in tune.
If you can feel the difference between a shout and whisper, you can learn to shape a beautiful tone.
There is hope for you.
There is a path. And it’s probably shorter than you think.
Let me show you how to move from Silent to Singing!
We’ll meet live on Zoom on Thursday, October 16th at 4 p.m.
Come with your questions! There will be a recording, but you need to register in order to receive it.

Do you wish your singing wasn’t so “hit or miss”?
Do you want to speak more confidently?
Are you tired of sounding raspy, froggy, exhausted or squeaky?
Before you decide, “I just don’t have the knack for this,” ask yourself, have I warmed myself up properly?
Here’s the thing nobody tells you:
Everyone needs to warm up.
Even Beyoncé.
Even Sir Ian McKellen.
Even you.
I can show you how.
Maybe you’d like to…
sound amazing even at the beginning or the end of the day
make singing a regular part of your life just because it’s fun
feel more prepared and less vocally stressed when you’re giving presentations
get back into choir or community theater but you feel “rusty” and self-conscious about auditioning
The time to start is now!
When you Get Ready With Me you’ll…
learn how to warm up your voice for singing or speaking, without a piano
learn how to build a routine that strengthens your voice over time
work with your microphone on or off – your choice
get help for your specific issues
choose whether to perform for the group (2 mins or less), giving you the chance to manage all the butterflies and nervousness that come with the spotlight. This is great for audition prep!

Our class meets on Tuesdays, March 12, 19, 26 and April 2, 2024 from 7-8 p.m. Pacific. I’ll send you the Zoom link after you register.
You’ll get the most out of the class if you attend live, and the classes will be recorded and available to re-watch through May 31, 2024.
Complete beginners to vocal technique, or public speaking, or both are completely welcome!
The tuition is a total bargain compared to studying with me privately. Plus, you get the benefit of a group learning environment. One of the best ways to learn how to improve your own voice is by listening to other people work on theirs.
If you find after the first session that this just isn’t for you, I’ll gladly refund $175.
I teach group classes a few times a year. Get on my mailing list to be sure to hear about them.
